In partnership with the 168 Film Project (an incubator for filmmakers of faith for nearly a decade), the National Assn. of Broadcasters Convention (NAB Show) has scheduled an affair to be held on the eve of its 2011 edition (Apr. 9-14) here for the worldwide community of faith, including church media professionals, filmmakers, artists, pastors, youth leaders and ministries seeking excellent faith-based content.
Dubbed the Faith ’N’ Film Summit, the occasion boasts media leaders focused on the intersection of art and faith, who will share Hollywood storytelling and story-selling secrets for attracting audiences.
The event will be held Sun. Apr. 10 from 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM at the Las Vegas Hilton Pavilion 9, one day before the opening of the NAB Show exhibits. The daylong workshop starts with a non-denominational service and includes a VIP panel discussion, film exhibition, classes and networking.

The Faith ‘N’ Film panel discussion, “Market Forces in Faith and Family Content,” features producer Ken Wales (“Amazing Grace”), writer/producer Brian Bird (“Touched by an Angel,” “Evening Shade”), Paul Crouch Jr., vp of administration at Trinity Broadcasting Network and film reviewer Ted Baehr, the founder and publisher of Movieguide. The moderator is John David Ware, founder and president of the 168 Film Project.
Said Ware, “Some faith and family films have been hugely profitable, but the market can be rocky soil for growing box office receipts. Yet, ripe fruit awaits those with the passion to sow good seed.”
Questions to be addressed by the panel include: Where is the Best Market for Buying and Selling Faith and Family Films & TV? Is a Secondary Market Desirable or Needed? How is the Internet Changing Faith-Based Programming?
Screenings at the Summit include short film finalists from the 168 Film Project’s signature annual Speed-Faith Film production competition and a sneak preview of a feature-length film to be announced.
During the NAB Show exhibits (Apr. 11-14) — which cover filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content — attendees may visit the 168 exhibit in the Content Central Area.
