Alison Winfree Pickrell spent thirty years as a Special Education teacher in Iredell County in rural North Carolina. "I write my books in part to show the dignity and worth of those among us who are considered handicapped and therefore less than normal," Alison says. "But there is a little bit of hero in each one of us."
