Like many writers, author Angela Hunt often finds her inspiration in unexpected places. And for whatever reason, she’s always been intrigued by a town in Missouri called Peculiar—and couldn’t help wondering what the people who lived there would be like, too.
In fact, she liked the sound of Peculiar so much, she had a character from her previous novel, She Always Wore Red, reading a book titled Five Miles South of Peculiar.
As it turns out, the title held plenty of appeal for one of Hunt’s readers who tried to track down the book on the web. Trouble is, there wasn’t a real book by that name—until now. “Basically, I had to tell her that I’d better get writing it,” Angela shares. And now thanks to one persistent reader, fans can now get the story behind the story in Five Miles South of Peculiar (Howard Books).
