The Magnolia Duchess Finding true love can be difficult, but the decisions that follow may prove to be the hardest

Growing up in the South, Beth White found a passion for the area’s rich history and beauty. It was a great foundation and inspiration for her latest series, the Gulf Coast Chronicles. The first of this series, The Pelican Bride, added to her list of awards, which include the American Christian Fiction Writers’ Carol Award, the RT Book Club Reviewers’ Choice Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award. The second book of the series, The Creole Princess, carried White’s readers through the rest of the eighteenth century. Now readers will enjoy the final book in this series, The Magnolia Duchess.

The Magnolia Duchess captures the essence of historical romance with a love story immersed in the culture and politics of the early 1800s. While Fiona Lanier’s ship-building family races to fill the demands for American ships brought by the War of 1812, Fiona is busy trying to rescue her brother, who was forced into service by the British Navy.

Meanwhile, Fiona’s past has washed up on shore in the form of a shipwrecked and injured Charlie Kincaid. His head injury has hampered his memory, but as glimpses of his past resurface, Fiona becomes more than just a familiar face. As their bond grows, so does the reality of their clashing political loyalties. They must decide where their true devotions lie.

White has graced her readers with attention to detail, evocative prose, and a creative mind as she sheds light on the political, cultural, and emotional times of old. The Magnolia Duchess invites readers to not only enjoy an intriguing and complex tale and explore a world they have never seen, but also learn a bit about love, life, and faith. White has written an excellent finish to an excellent series, which displays “duplicity, danger, political intrigue, and adventure,” according to Booklist.

Beth White is the award-winning author of The Pelican Bride. A native Mississippian, she teaches music at an inner-city high school in historic Mobile, Alabama. Her novels have won the American Christian Fiction Writers’ Carol Award, the RT Book Club Reviewers’ Choice Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award. Learn more at www.bethwhite.net.
