Beverly Lewis, raised in Pennsylvania Amish country, is a former schoolteacher, an accomplished musician, and an award-winning author of more than eighty books for adults and children, many of which have appeared on bestseller lists. Her novel The Brethren won a 2007 Christy Award for excellence in Christian fiction.

Cameras are rolling on an original Hallmark TV movie based on Beverly Lewis’ bestseller The Shunning (Bethany House), the story of a young woman who discovers her identity and comes to peace with her parents’ faith. Michael Landon Jr is directing and serves as one of the producers. Production began in North Carolina Nov. 8. Published in 1997, The Shunning was the first volume in Beverly’s Heritage of Lancaster County series. The book has since gone on to win the Gold Book Award (500,000 copies sold) and the ECPA Platinum Award (1 million sold).
