Q&A: Brenda Minton (The Cowboy Lawman)
Brenda Minton answers five questions about her newest book The Cowboy Lawman (Love Inspired Romance): It's Slade's job to protect Mia, but it's not his job to help her find love and healing.
Q: What inspired your latest Romance The Cowboy Lawman?
The Cowboy Lawman is a part of my Love Inspired series, Cooper Creek. I've worked with these characters for the last couple of years and so I feel like I've gotten to know them. Mia Cooper has been a secondary character in several books and as I've gotten to know her I realized what a strong and together person/character she is. I also knew she had a compassionate side that she sometimes hid beneath her tough exterior.
Q: What do you think readers will find interesting about this story?
The overwhelming theme in this books is coming to terms with loss. The loss of a mother, a wife, a friend. The loss of a career. The loss of independence. But in all of that loss the characters learn that God replaces what is lost.
Q: Who is your favorite character in this book?
It’s hard to pick a favorite. I love Mia and Slade as a hero and heroine. I also love Granny Myrna Cooper, as my readers probably know she is loving but intrusive. And then there is Slade's little boy, Caleb. No, just like with my own children, I can't pick a favorite.
Q: How does your faith influence your writing?
I think my faith is very much a part of my life, a part of the choices I make and how I deal with people and problems. I hope that I create characters who portray that same faith and that readers are touched by the struggles and victories of those characters.
Q: Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
Mia Cooper is an important part of the Cooper series. Her story had to be told. In telling the story I learned a little more about her and I hope the readers have the same journey.
