After a six-year hiatus, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are back in a direct-to-DVD movie, Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown (Warner Home Video). Like all Peanuts cartoons produced since Peanuts creator Charles Schulz’ death, the story is based on classic Peanuts comic strips and the animation based on the classic character designs. This is the first special made without the involvement of Lee Mendelson Productions and Bill Melendez Productions, directed instead by Andy Beall (Up, Ratatouille) and Frank Molieri (SpongeBob SquarePants Movie). The story also appears in a new comic book adaptation from Kaboom Studios, plus a picture book from Running Press Kids.
