Clarity Miller has it all under control. She has a loving boyfriend, a safe home with her aunt and a great group of friends. She’s about as happy as a teenager can be. That is, until she meets Sam. Not only does Sam claim to be her guardian angel, he informs her that she’s been given the gifts of a seer. None of that fits into Clarity’s world view but, when a her hometown is brought to its knees by horrible events, she must decide if she’s really willing to live a “normal” life.

WHAT LED YOU TO WRITE CLARITY?
Well, first of all, I’m married with three kids, and I stay at home. For the longest time I felt like there was something I was supposed to be doing, but I had no idea what. So I prayed for a year, asking God to reveal what He had planned. In between all this my daddy passed away from lung cancer. He passed away January 24th, 2009, and God answered my prayers at four in the morning on April 24th, 2009. I realized He wanted me to write, which excited me but also confused me since I’d never wanted to write and I hardly ever sat down to read a book. So I had my answer, the only question was this: What did He want me to write?

STARTING OUT, WHO WERE THE AUTHORS WHO INSPIRED YOU? WHO INSPIRES YOU NOW?

Well I tend to like the Young Adult genre. Yes, I’ve read the Twilight books and love Stephenie Meyer’s style of writing. I also like Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpartick, and Maggie Stiefvater (to name a limited few). My favorites, though, have to be Frank E. Peretti and Ted Dekker. The person who inspires me the most is my mother.

HOW DOES YOUR FAITH INFLUENCE YOUR WRITING?
At the time I was starting out I was involved with the youth ministry at my church. Spending time with them I saw what their daily struggles were and what they went through. I figured out that God wanted me to write for these young people, but not about vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc., but about the unseen battle around us, the REAL supernatural. As Christians we believe in angels and demons, Heaven and Hell, and the Spiritual Warfare being fought every second of every day. If people could get so wrapped up in the fantasy world of vampires, why couldn’t they get wrapped up in the real supernatural?

HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR?
Well, I’m still working on that one! (Joking!) I never even thought about being an author until God intervened!

WHAT DO YOU MOST HOPE THAT READERS GET FROM READING YOUR WORK?
When I began I felt burdened to help the lives of teens, but I really think any age could get something from my writing. My goal is to get Christians and non-Christians alike to think about the unseen battle happening around us, and how it’s affecting our world. I want people to think on Heaven and Hell, and most of all I want them to think about our Creator, the One who gave us life. My Seer Society Series will have five books in it, following with a prequel.  The main character, Clarity, goes through many changes, and so do her friends. It’s my take on a world that is full of modern day Seers (they can see angels and demons, and also fight the evil alongside angels).
