Presbyterian minister Robert L. Short (1932–2009) popularized the idea of finding religious meaning in popular culture. His landmark first book, The Gospel According to Peanuts has sold more than 10 million copies in eleven languages and earned the respect of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz. Through his work, Short became a trailblazer for other authors seeking to reveal the sacred in the simplest of places.
