For Dorothy Love, one characteristic
of a true hero is that he
looks beyond himself and seeks
to do good for others. In her
final Hickory Ridge novel, Every
Perfect Gift (Thomas Nelson),
Dorothy instills that quality in
Ethan Heyward. “Ethan loved
building his resort, Blue Smoke,
but he also donates time and
talents to the orphanage and
to repairing the newspaper
office after the near-disaster
there.” That’s not all there is
to this 1880s Southern gentleman:
“He’s not afraid to admit
when he’s wrong, and he’s not
afraid to express his feelings
to Sophie. Besides all that, he’s
just the most handsome thing a
girl could possibly want.”
