Bonnets and buggies have captured readers’ imaginations over recent years, the genre exploding in popularity with names like Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter and Cindy Woodsmall synonymous with bestseller lists.  There are many new and talented writers sharing their love of the Amish culture and lifestyle, including a couple of men, so be sure to discover these 10 new voices in Amish fiction.


Kelly Long 
  
Growing up in the mountains of North Central Pennsylvania, Kelly Long had plenty of memories and experiences to draw from when writing Sarah’s Garden and Lily’s Wedding Quilt (Thomas Nelson).  The first in her Amish Beginnings series, Arms of Love, releases this April.


Hillary Manton Lodge   
Hillary Manton Lodge’s self-described “Urban Amish” stories include Plain Jayne (Harvest House), her debut novel and a Carol Award finalist; and Simply Sarah, the story of an Amish girl finding her way in the city of Portland.


Amy Clipston
At one point afraid to even tell her husband she was writing stories, Amy Clipston has had each of her Kaufmann Amish Bakery series hit the Christian Fiction bestseller lists. Look for A Life of Joy (Zondervan), releasing this month.


Anna Schmidt
New to Amish fiction, Anna Schmidt released Hannah’s Journey and Family Blessings (Love Inspired) in 2011. Her new series, Women of Pinecraft, commenced with A Stranger’s Gift. The second book, A Sister’s Forgiveness (Barbour), follows in May.


Laura V. Hilton   
A pastor’s wife and homeschooling mother of five, Laura V. Hilton released her first Amish novel in April 2011, Patchwork Dreams (Whitaker House).  Look for her third book in the series, Promised to Another in April 2012.


Dale Cramer

Vannetta Chapman

Researching her grandfather’s birthplace of Albion, Pa., introduced Vannetta Chapman to all things Amish. Beginning with A Simple Amish Christmas (Abingdon), she is now writing an Amish mystery series which includes Falling to Pieces and A Perfect Square (Zondervan).


Kathleen Fuller
With her fiction in anthologies alongside stories by Beth Wiseman, Kelly Long and Barbara Cameron, together with her own three, separate Middlefield series, Kathleen Fuller has become well-known despite only having written Amish stories since 2009. Her latest is Treasuring Emma (Thomas Nelson).

Suzanne Woods Fisher
With a grandfather who was raised Plain and many living Amish relatives, Suzanne Woods Fisher has a great respect for their culture and lifestyle. A Carol and Christy award finalist, Suzanne is already contracted for 13 more Amish books.  Look for the newly released The Keeper (Revell).


Murray Pura   
Canadian Baptist minister Murray Pura joins a very select group of men writing Amish fiction! Discover A Bride’s Flight from Virginia City, Montana (Barbour) and Wings of Morning (Harvest House), and look for two more Amish releases in 2012.
