Colorado Springs, CO—Francis Chan, bestselling author, pastor and father of four, has written two
children’s books, Halfway Herbert and The Big Red Tractor and the Little Village (September 2010,
David C Cook). The two full‐color picture books, written for children 4 to 8 years, are based on the
content of two of Chan’s bestselling adult books, Crazy Love and Forgotten God.

In Halfway Herbert, the lead character, Herbert, never completes anything. Homework is halfway done.
His room stays only partly clean. And yet Halfway Herbert gets by. But when he tells a half‐truth, he
learns the importance of honesty and following God with all of his heart. Halfway Herbert is based on
Chan’s first book, Crazy Love, making the important character principles accessible and relevant for
parents and children alike.

In The Big Red Tractor and the Little Village, Chan creates a contemporary parable of Farmer Dave and
his village. The Red Tractor is not easy to use, and the majority of the villages are resigned to struggle
with it until Farmer Dave finds a long‐forgotten book filled with secrets to making the Red Tractor useful
and powerful. Based on Chan’s second book, Forgotten God, The Big Red Tractor and the Little Village
creatively shows parents and children how to understand God’s Holy Spirit.

“Francis and his wife Lisa want to make Christianity real to children—whether it is for their own four
kids, children in their church, kids around their community or around the world. We all believe these
two children’s books will impact a future generation to commit to bold and passionate living at a young
age,” says C. Ryan Dunham, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for David C Cook.

Francis Chan is the founding pastor of Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, CA, starting the church in
1994. Cornerstone currently gives 50% of its operating budget to outside ministries and charities. He is
also Founder and President of Eternity Bible College and serves on the boards of Children’s Hunger Fund
and World Impact. His two books, Crazy Love and Forgotten God, were immediate bestsellers with
more than 900,000 copies sold. His first DVD series, BASIC, comes out this summer from David C Cook
and FLANNEL. Chan has given all author royalties for Crazy Love to the Isaiah 58 Fund. Currently he and
his wife Lisa live in Southern California with their four children but plan on moving in the fall of 2010 to
work with the poor.
