Lisa Harris’ uncle passed away in 2010 after working in Africa more than 40 years. Old books she discovered in his library inspired An Ocean Away (Summerside Press). “They were fascinating cultural studies on life in Northern Rhodesia — now Zambia — and dealt with everything from the people’s religious beliefs to what they ate for dinner to how they were given in marriage, and in turn gave me the pieces to the backdrop of my story.”

The author of more than 30 books, Lisa Harris has won a Christy Award, and the Best Inspirational Suspense Novel from Romantic Times. She lives with her husband near the Indian Ocean in Mozambique, where they work as church-planting missionaries. She sees writing as an extension of her ministry, which also includes running a non-profit organization.
