Christian Fiction All Abuzz Online

(July 13, 2015)

Last week well-known literary agent Chip McGregor who represents many Christian fiction authors (Rachel Hauck, Mindy Starns Clark, Leslie Gould, Davis Bunn, Susan Meissner, to name a few) published a blog post that created a lot of friction for fans and publishers of Christian fiction.

In his post, McGregor took a look at the changing landscape of Christian fiction and made some statements based on his expertise in the field about what is happening and where Christian fiction as an industry is headed. You can read that post here. In the post he highlighted Lifeway bookstores in a less than favorable light.

On July 10th, a buyer with Lifeway, Rachel McRae, took to the web to defend Lifeway Christian Stores and their buying selections. McRae also painted a more optimistic future for Christian fiction.

After McGregor's initial post blew up the internet and caused a stir for authors, publishers and readers, McGregor published yet another blog post on July 13th, defending and restating his views--especially as they pertain to Lifeway.

It's no secret that Christian fiction is changing. We highlighted this sentiment in our June issue when we spotlighted an independent author as a prime example of this change. However, there is a lot of debate about where Christian fiction is headed. At least we can all agree, change is on the horizon.
