Seeing the influence Disney had on little girls, Jeanna Young knew she wanted to write the Princess Parable series. “Although I am not completely against Disney,” she said, “as a Christian, they do not follow my beliefs nor do they instill the character I want my daughter to exemplify.”
Young and her mentor, Jacqueline Johnson, have now written five picture books, illustrated by Omar Aranda, and soon two new parables will be released in the young reader I Can Read series: Princess Joy’s Party and Princess, Grace, and Poppy (Zonderkidz).
“Little girls today need new princess role models,” Young explained, saying, “God called us to write the Princess Parables for all those moms and dads out there that want a more grounded, wholesome choice of princesses.”
