Q: WHAT INSPIRED YOUR BOOK?
Noble Imposter is a sequel to my first novel, Precisely Terminated¸ so it was easy for me to find inspiration for this second novel. Precisely Terminated was inspired by a dream. I dreamed the entire first chapter, and the rest of the novel came easily, as if I were watching a movie.
Q: ALTHOUGH YOUR BOOK IS FICTION – WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF SOME ELEMENTS
IN THE BOOK THAT CAME FROM REAL LIFE?
Two of the things I bring in from real life are perseverance and suffering. I try to make my characters as real as possible, and one major thing that plays a part in that is making their circumstances as believable as possible. Suffering is very real in our world and in my characters’ world, but they persevere despite the struggles, and I hope that my readers will gain courage and hope from the characters’ fortitude, since (hopefully) it feels so real.
Q: FACT VS. FICTION – WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT SOME EXAMPLES IN YOUR
NOVEL WHERE YOU TOOK SOME LIBERTIES WITH THE FACTS?
Since my novels are set 800 years in the future I get to take a lot of liberties with my story world and elements within. For example, there are computer chips that are energized by a person’s electromagnetic field. There are no computer chips like that right now, but I get to hypothesize that maybe there will be such a thing in 800 years. On the other hand, there are computer chips that are small enough to safely be inserted under the skin. So there are some elements in my novels that definitely draw from fact, but then I stretch the facts a bit as well.
Q: WHAT DO YOU WANT READERS TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR BOOK?
I want my readers to take away courage, selflessness, hope, and perseverance from my stories. My main character, Monica, displays all these attributes despite terrible conditions, and I hope that her character qualities will instill and encourage those qualities in my readers.
Q: WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
I’m currently working on the third book in my trilogy. Precisely Terminated and Noble Imposter are the first two books, and the third is now about three-quarters done. It is yet to be titled because I often don’t title my works until they are finished.
