Age and secrets can’t stop love in Janet Tronstad’s latest novel,
Second Chance In Dry Creek (Love Inspired).
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION DRIVING THE STORY IN A SECOND CHANCE IN DRY CREEK?
I wanted to show readers that love happens for the past-thirty crowd, too. Gracie Stone, my heroine in the book, is a middle-aged woman with three grown sons. She’s a widow and an ex-con. But she has been drawn to Calen Gray for decades and just not acted on it.
I have some loyal readers who love it every time I write more mature heroines and heroes. I believe there is love for all ages in life.
WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES FROM THE STORY WHERE YOU DREW ELEMENTS FROM REAL LIFE?
The story begins with Gracie fretting about the fact that her grown sons are trying to match make for her. They want her to date and she’s comfortable just the way she is. I do not think any of enjoy being challenged to try something new when we are set in our ways.
IN A SECOND CHANCE IN DRY CREEK, WHO IS THE CHARACTER WHO SURPRISED YOU MOST?
I’d say I was most surprised by Calen’s grown daughter, Renee. She became more of a force in the book than I had expected.
WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
Related to the last question, I am now working on Renee’s story.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE READERS GET OUT OF YOUR WORK?
I hope readers draw closer to their friends and families after reading a Dry Creek book. I know people often try a Dry Creek book because they like the small town atmosphere.
