Author Kim Bishop talks about her speculative thriller

Resistance: The Revelations (Westbow Press) — on Earth, the balance between good and evil is about to be shifted towards darkness as spiritual warfare blazes in the heavens…

Q: WHAT LED YOU TO WRITE RESISTANCE: THE REVELATIONS?
I started writing my book because of evils that I saw in the church. Then after years of not writing, due to raising my children, I sat down to finish it and had learned about Agenda 21 and the evils it put on society and combined the two into a pretty good adventure story, full of conspiracy theories and spiritual warfare.

Q: STARTING OUT, WHO WERE THE AUTHORS WHO INSPIRED YOU? WHO INSPIRES YOU NOW?
Starting out, I really liked Frank Peretti and Clive Cussler. Now I still am inspired by the two, but also really enjoy Ted Dekker’s novels, the way he mixes truth into fictional stories and really gets the good vs. evil idea across without being preachy.

Q: HOW DOES YOUR FAITH INFLUENCE YOUR WRITING?
My faith is key in my writing. As I sat down to write the story just kind of poured out of me. In my faith journey, I have learned that God is in control of life and salvation, and as Christians we are called to share the Gospel, but not shove it down people’s throats, nor be responsible for their salvation…that is up to the Holy Spirit. In the past two years I have learned about praying scripture and it has opened a whole new world in my spiritual walk. The book has much prayer. And the main characters have a journey toward their own faith journeys, hence the sub title “The Revelations.”

Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR?
I never really thought of myself as an author. I have always enjoyed writing, but after people read my manuscript they encouraged me to go on and publish it.

Q: WHAT DO YOU MOST HOPE THAT READERS GET FROM READING YOUR WORK?

I hope most readers will take away that God is in control of the events in the world and while we have a part to play all we can do is share the truth and be watchful for the schemes of the devil. I hope people will learn a little bit about the dangers of giving up their freedoms to governments and real life plans that are being implemented in the world.
