CSI investigator Shanna Dawson has a case that she just can’t let go of – one she’s never solved. Fourteen years ago, her little sister, Skylar, disappeared. In all that time, there have been no leads – not even proof of life – until Skylar’s fingerprints implicate her in a murder at a fraternity house. Shanna is understandably desperate to find out what happened but so is campus cop Quinn Murphy who happens to be the victim’s half brother. As they work together to piece together the evidence, find Skylar and bring a killer to justice, Shanna and Quinn find themselves growing unexpectedly close. But, as family secrets are revealed and evidence is uncovered, Shanna prays against hope that her sister is as innocent as she believes her to be… and that the real killer is caught before Quinn is hurt or Skylar is lost forever.

WHAT LED YOU TO WRITE PROOF OF LIFE?
I have always loved CSI types of stories and thought it would be cool to add the twist of finding her missing sister’s prints at a crime scene. I also had a daughter in college during the time I was writing this book so writing the campus scenes were great fun.

STARTING OUT, WHO WERE THE AUTHORS WHO INSPIRED YOU? WHO INSPIRES YOU NOW?
I grew up reading Grace Livingston Hill books, but always loved reading about mysteries too. DiAnn Mills inspires me now, but I have many favorite authors, far too many to name. Marta Perry’s Amish books aren’t mysteries, but I love them anyway.

HOW DOES YOUR FAITH INFLUENCE YOUR WRITING?
I feel as if God has steered me towards writing Love Inspired Suspense books. I enjoy adding the faith journey along with the suspense aspects of the books. There are times when I’m struggling to keep all the threads of the story together, and then suddenly everything works out perfectly and I’m sure God had His hand in that.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR?
Since I was 12 years old. I was a voracious reader and often ran out of things to read, so I made up my own stories. I wrote my first “novel” at 13 and then my first romance novel at 17. Neither one was ever published, but I always knew one day I would see my books in print. It’s absolutely amazing to be able to write for Love Inspired Suspense! To write faith based mysteries is pure joy.

WHAT DO YOU MOST HOPE THAT READERS GET FROM READING YOUR WORK?
I always love hearing from my readers and thanks to all of you who have taken time to write. I’m thrilled when I hear readers enjoy my stories and I hope they learn a little about faith and love amidst a heart-pounding suspense plot. I want my readers to love the story so much they can’t put my books down. Those who tell me they had to stay up late to finish my book, always make me laugh. Readers are always the focus of my stories because without them, what’s the point of writing?
