Based on screenplay from the makers of the hit indie films ‘Fireproof’ and ‘Facing the Giants’
Carol Stream, IL—Tyndale House Publishers announces that it will publish the novelization of Courageous, a major motion picture in theaters Sept. 30, 2011. Based on the screenplay by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, Courageous: A Novel will be written by bestselling author Randy Alcorn. Courageous is the fourth movie for Sherwood Pictures, a ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Its first release since Fireproof, the No. 1 independent film of 2008, Courageous joins Facing the Giants and Flywheel in lifting lives through stories of faith and hope. The novelization will release in August 2011.

Randy Alcorn is the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM) and a bestselling author with more than four million copies of his books in print. Alex Kendrick has co-written, directed, edited, produced, and acted in all four Sherwood movies. He co-wrote The Love Dare and is on the ministerial staff of Sherwood Baptist Church.
Stephen Kendrick is an associate pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church; co-writer and producer of Courageous, Fireproof and Facing the Giants; and coauthor of The Love Dare.
Courageous tells the stories of four men with one calling: to serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners are confident and focused. They willingly stand up to the worst the streets have to offer. Yet at the end of the day they face a challenge that none of them is truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. Provident Films and Affirm Films, a division of Sony Picture Home Entertainment, will market and distribute Courageous. Tyndale House Publishers will publish and distribute the Courageous novelization through its normal retail channels.
