The tiny town of Thrall, Texas,
is as much a star in film Abel’s
Field as its leading actors Kevin
Sorbo (Hercules, Soul Surfer)
and Samuel Davis. Discovered
by director Gordie Haakstad using
Google Earth, real-life Thrall
becomes the fictional town of
Sinai, where football is king.
High schooler Seth struggles to
care for his younger sisters in the
wake of his mother’s death and
his father’s abandonment, but he
keeps getting in trouble at school.
He soon finds himself working
with groundskeeper Abel (Sorbo)
to prepare the football field for
the big game. “This movie is
about getting a second chance,”
Sorbo says.
