With
book sales surpassing one million, and success in both Christian and
general publishing, Jon S. Lewis’ imaginative novels have clearly struck
a chord with readers.

“I
started writing early in life without realizing that I was actually
writing,” Jon says. “I had always wanted to be a comic book illustrator,
and that’s exactly what comic book illustrators are—they’re
storytellers. I also realized that the comic book characters I had
created need origin stories, and that’s where the actual writing
started.”

Jon
co-authored his bestselling Grey Griffins series with a childhood
friend. “We were inspired to have the fantasy world break into our
reality instead of having people from our world visit some far-off
fantasy land.” The same holds true for Jon’s C.H.A.O.S. series—only this
time it uses science fiction elements like aliens and high-tech gear.

Yet
the plot of the story looks to ancient history. “I wanted [the series]
to be a loose retelling of the life of David,” Jon says. “Colt is a
surfer instead of a shepherd, but he’s young, small, handsome, sings,
plays an instrument, is a dreamer, and his life is destined for
something amazing. Instead of a giant Philistine, he fights giant
robots. And instead of a land battle between the Philistines and the
Israelites, the land battle is for Earth. Alienation (Thomas Nelson) is
loosely based on the idea of Saul trying to murder David, and how David
handled it with dignity and compassion.”

Jon
made the move to writing for a Christian publisher with little
difficulty. “I try to ensure my worldview permeates everything I write,
and since the Bible informs my worldview, there weren’t any problems at
all.”

In
addition to his love for writing, Jon has a passion for theology, comic
books, movies, WWII, the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with his
wife and kids.
