Historical novelist Lynn Morris passed away January 28 from complications of pneumonia.

The daughter of prolific author Gilbert Morris, Lynn’s biography at her literary agency claims that she never aspired to writing – in fact, she graduated from college with a degree in accounting.

“But her father, the famous Christian writer, Gilbert Morris, inspired her. With his encouragement and expert tutelage, she wrote the Cheney Duvall, M.D. series, and the follow-up series, Cheney and Shiloh: The Inheritance.”

The biography also says that while she was a skilled writer, Lynn’s particular specialty was in research:

“Lynn’s agent, Greg Johnson, once joked that she had a 100+ page plot synopsis and 500 pages of research for a 350 page book. It is Lynn’s belief that including scrupulous detailing of settings, surroundings, dress, food, and culture of the era add a texture to the book that can’t fail to capture a reader’s imagination.”

Lynn Morris was the bestselling author of more than 25 novels, including the popular Cheney Duvall, M.D. series.
