Can a widow, a widower, and their two young daughters find a way to start over in Bear Lake, Montana? Find out in Montana Love Letter (Love Inspired) by Charlotte Carter.

Q: WHAT WERE YOUR GOALS WRITING MONTANA LOVE LETTER?
My first goal is always to create a good love story, one that is believable and touches the reader’s heart. Secondly, I wanted to introduce the fictional town of Bear Lake, Mont., a small town south of Glacier National Park. That’s such pretty country, I wanted to write a series of stories with that locale.

Q: WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES FROM THE STORY WHERE YOU DREW ELEMENTS FROM REAL LIFE?
The scene where the hero, heroine, and their two young daughters go fishing on the lake is definitely drawn from my family’s fishing experiences. Poor Dad spends all of his time getting the fishing lines set, putting bait on the hooks, untangling lines, etc. and may never have a chance to get his own line wet.

The Realtor in the story was inspired by a good friend of mine.

And, of course, my family has visited the Glacier National Park area.

Q: WHO IS THE CHARACTER IN THIS STORY WHO SURPRISED YOU MOST?
That’s a really interesting question and a hard one to answer. I become so immersed in the story, the characters take on a life independent of my own. Perhaps the surprise was the hero’s ten-year-old daughter Hailey, who took on such mature responsibilities to help the heroine’s daughter Raeanne and protect her own father.

Q: WHAT DO YOU HOPE READERS GET OUT OF YOUR WORK?
The hero of the story is Adam Hunter. He has always been ashamed of being unable to read due to dyslexia. At one point, Janelle Townsend, the heroine, pointedly insists that he has no reason to be ashamed. “You are the way God made you.”

I’d like to think readers take that thought with them. Whatever our limitations or disabilities, it is how God made us.

Q: WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
I just finished the final edit for Montana Wrangler, a July 2013 release and third book set in Bear Lake, MT. (The second in the series Home to Montana is a March 2013 release.)

I’m currently writing Tail of Two Hearts, the fifth book in a Love Inspired continuity set in the small town of Bygones, Kansas – Heart of Main Street, a November 2013 release.
