Ida Sinclair joins her sisters Kat and Nell in Cripple Creek, Colorado with one goal in mind—business success. When she goes to work for the infamous businesswoman Mollie O’Bryan, finding the “right man” is the last thing on her mind. Ida wants a career more than anything else, so she shrugs off the two men pursuing her affections as well as comments that girls don’t belong in business. Yet, an unexpected adventure will help Ida realize her true priorities.

WHAT LED YOU TO WRITE TOO RICH FOR A BRIDE?
Like Ida Sinclair, I have three younger sisters. Sister relationships are roller coaster rides, walks in Colorado on a summer day, lines that you don’t cross in the shared bedroom, and giggles over a heated checkers game. Those family ties can be both comforting and exasperating, concurrently. That makes the sister-bond especially engaging and entertaining. Also, like Ida Sinclair, I am a businesswoman and wanted to explore where such aspirations may have led me in 1897.

STARTING OUT, WHO WERE THE AUTHORS WHO INSPIRED YOU? WHO INSPIRES YOU NOW?

In Little Women, Louisa May Alcott inspired me to write about the journeys of sisters. My favorite authors today include Cathy Marie Hake, Tamara Alexander, Deeanna Gist, Lauraine Snelling, DiAnn Mills, Robin Lee Hatcher, and Melody Carlson.

HOW DOES YOUR FAITH INFLUENCE YOUR WRITING?

My faith in Jesus Christ inspires and instructs me, informs everything I do, which in turn influences my characters.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR?

The niggling to become a writer started in 1984 when I met a “real” writer.

WHAT DO YOU MOST HOPE THAT READERS GET FROM READING YOUR WORK?

Enjoyment, encouragement, inspiration, a respite, and spiritual nourishment.
