As a 7th grade language arts teacher, Jennifer Johnson reads a lot of young adult fiction—and became enamored with the love triangles found in YA hit series Twilight and Hunger Games. “I was sucked into teetering feelings of which guy the heroine should choose—and I loved it. I loved the inner struggle within the heroine and the inner struggle within myself. Should I root for Edward or Jacob, Gale or Peeta? So I thought, ‘Hey, I should write a story like that but with an obvious Christian focus.’” The heroine in A Wedding Song in Lexington, Kentucky (Barbour Books) is determined to remain single yet finds herself torn between a rugged farmer and an accomplished lawyer.
